Newborn Prep Information
Congratulations on your new baby!
Thank you so much for allowing us the amazing and rewarding job of photographing your new little arrival in their first few days of life.
Newborns are our passion and we consider ourselves truly blessed to be around these little miracles so much.
First of all, how to find us
Our studio is located at: Unit 15 Enterprise Park Henley-on-Thames Oxfordshire, RG9 1UF
Directions: From the direction of Greys Road Car Parl. A small way up Greys Road, there will then be a turning on your right called Stuarts Lane, opposite the Bird in Hand Pub, take this turning on to Stuarts Lane. Drive straight a head and you will see our sign right in front of you at the end of the road (we share an entrance with Lawlors Bakers)
Additional instructions: For Parking, follow the road around to the left and there will be four spaces for Unit 1 and 15. Please use any of these. Please call us if you have any problems on 01491 412 768.
What to Expect - For Baby
Before the shoot, please feed baby 2-3 hours before and then again as you get here! Also, please try to keep them awake before hand, it really does help as they will be ready for a sleep when they get here. Instead of a sleep, try giving them a bath, let them kick with only their nappy on, tickle their toes and even let them fuss for a little bit (no dummies) for the few hours beforehand. This will help ensure those squishy, sleepy newborn pictures!
We can't stress that it is so important to do your best to keep them awake.
Many parents come in saying "baby has been asleep all morning, but trust be, he sleeps so well at this time of day!" only to have baby awake, since they will be unclothed and unswaddled!
We make sure the studio is kept warm. Due to this, we come dressed for a warm few hours and suggest you do too!
We have two session types, 1.5 hour session and a 3 hour luxury session. Please make sure you bring extra nappies, wipes, bottles and snacks (especially for older siblings and parents too!) for the length of the session.
What to Expect - For Parents
For the 1.5 hour sessions, the majority of the session is focused on your little one. If we can we love to capture a couple of photography of you with your new arrival, so have a think on what you would like to wear - you are a big part of the show!
Photographing the connection between you and your baby is one of our favourite things. Just as they encourage in the hospital, skin to skin contact creates the most beautiful images.
DADS: If you prefer not to be shirtless, I ask that you bring a tight good fitting plain v neck/ round neck t-shirt with a good pair of jeans.
MUMS: Keep the colours of tops neutral and design simple. Be sure that you have tidy nail polish or plain nails as your hands will be in the images. Also, rest assured, we aim to photograph using flattering angles and light to bring out the natural beauty in your family.
FOR SIBLINGS: Including older brother/sister(s) in your newborn's portraits is the perfect way to document this fleeting time in your lives. We highly, highly recommend the 3 hour session to include siblings or other family members.
Sister(s): Please bring along a snug fitting tank/top in a neutral colour. I ask that girls hair be natural or in plaits and free of bows, headbands etc. Just with mum, no nail polish.
Brother(s): A snug pair of jeans and shirtless preferred, please take a few moments to have a chat with your guy about this to see how he feels - though if he prefers not, a tight-fitting plan t-shirt is fine.
A few thoughts...
If siblings will be joining you for the session, we do have books, toys and colouring on hand.
It is our hope that you come to the studio feeling comfortable and at home. We are truly honoured to be able to document this incredible time in your lives and look forward to getting to know you and your sweet baby!
